As the elite Golden Slipper Day is drawing ever closer with it taking place this Saturday at the Rosehill Gardens Racecourse, early and therefore lucrative odds are hotting up for the Group 1 The BMW (2400m).
With 12 top quality horses competing in The BMW, all vying for the $225,000 prize purse, it seems the starter to beat will be Theseo at $2.80.
Vying for the $225,000 prize purse, it seems the starter to beat will be Theseo at $2.80.
Despite drawing the eighth barrier, the Danewin gelding is out with a vengeance at the moment and will be looking at the BMW to be his third consecutive Group 1 win.
Speed Gifted is another starter to watch, despite starting from the 11th barrier, the Lee Freedman-trained gelding has odds of $5.
Close behind Speed Gifted in the odds is Daffodil at $5.50. The mare, trained by Kevin Gray is certainly a contender, and starting from the fifth barrier has placed in all of her last three starts.
Currently rounding out the odds for the 2010 The BMW is Growl starting from the third barrier at $67. While Saturday’s starting line up is one of top quality horses, Growl did win his last race – and could be a lucrative payout if he defies the odds on Saturday.
Also taking place on Saturday alongside the 2010 The BMW is the Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m) where Military Rose is favourite at $3.70, the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) and the Group 3 Star Kingdom Stakes (1100m).
