There’s been a heap of movement since we last updated the odds for the 2011 BMW Stakes with big betting seeing the markets tumble on some of the favourites for the April 2 race over 1400m at Rosehill Gardens.
Maluckyday opened as a $7 favourite on the very first 2011 BMW Stakes market and firmed on the back of a first up run where he failed to win but ran home strongly.
His second race, the Ranvet Stakes ,didn’t exactly go to plan though and he got back way too deep and failed to figure in the placings.
Despite this punters have seen enough to keep them happy and Maluckyday is a $3 favourite with online bookmaker Luxbet.
Behind him at $4.60 is the horse that was just edged out for a win in the Group 1 Ranvet, Descarado.
He was beaten by the 100 to 1 chance Zavite, but punters are confident he’ll be a lot fitter after the run.
It’s Linton and Zipping who sit on the third line of betting with Linton an ever present name in recent Australian staying races.
Zipping of course is one of the most popular horses in the country and the nine-year-old is showing no signs of slowing down yet.
Bart Cummings has also said Zavite is a chance to start in the 2011 BMW Stakes after that win in the Ranvet, despite having a horrible run in the corresponding event last year.
You’ll get nowhere near the 100 to 1 odds offered last start though with Zavite paying $17 for the win on Luxbet.
The 2011 BMW Stakes will be run on Golden Slipper Day, April 2nd at Rosehill Gardens.
