2011 The BMW Form Guide

#1 Zavite

  • Career: 60-11-6-3
  • 3rd race this prep
  • Zavite shocked punters by winning the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes last start and is obviously very fit. He finished second in this race last year and is certainly a winning chance.

#2 Hawk Island

  • Career: 32-9-6-2
  • 5th race this prep
  • Hawk Island has had good success in his last two starts, however, has not won at this distance in the past despite being against less competitive fields.

#3 Illustrious Blue

  • Career: 58-10-10-7
  • 3rd race this prep
  • Illustrious Blue tends to start his races rather slowly and often finds it hard to recover. His nose roll will come off for this race which will hopefully help his performance.

#4 Ginga Dude

  • Career: 40-12-5-6
  • 4th race this prep
  • Ginga Dude is at his best from 1600m-2000m but is still a chance here. He ran on well last start and was even able to place third behind So You Think in the spring.

#5 Mourayan

  • Career: 21-2-5-3
  • 5th race this prep
  • Doesn’t have the best winning record and hasn’t been able to finish better than eight in his two Group races this preparation. He’s probably outclassed here.

#6 Descarado

  • Career: 18-4-6-1
  • 3rd race this prep
  • Descarado lost by a whisker to Zavite in the Ranvet Stakes last start. He has attempted this distance twice, once finishing second in the AJC Derby and the other winning the Caulfield Cup.

#7 Linton

  • Career: 12-3-2-3
  • 4th race this prep
  • Linton looks perfectly primed for this race and distance after a solid second placing behind Shocking in the Australian Cup last start. He is definitely one to watch out for here and is sure to be in the finish.

#8 Maluckyday

  • Career: 11-5-2-2
  • 3rd race this prep
  • Maluckyday should be at his fittest once again after two fourth place finishes in the Chipping Norton Stakes and the Ranvet Stakes this preparation. Will fare well if he can sit closer to the leaders in this one.

#9 Cedarberg

  • Career: 14-3-3-1
  • 5th race this prep
  • Cedarberg went too soon in his Mornington Cup assault and ended up finishing second by the shortest of noses, then finished seventh in a cracking field in the Australian Cup last start. Chance to place.

#10 Extra Zero

  • Career: 22-2-4-1
  • 4th race this prep
  • Extra Zero was the beaten favourite in the Albury Cup last start and is a definite outsider here.

#11 Laristan

  • Career: 11-5-1-0
  • 4th race this prep
  • Laristan has performed well in his last two starts. He won a Listed race in France at his only other attempt at this distance. He could certainly be the surprise performer of the field.
